Visual Snow & Axoplasmic Flow (1CE hour)
Covers the role of mineral micronutrients such as sodium and potassium in blood pressure and optic nerve congestion. The diagnosis and treatment of Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia (POTS) and Visual Snow syndromes using OCT iamging, nutritional supplementation, ophthalmic prism and oral pharmaceuticals will be discussed. Pediatric Glaucoma and Pseudoglaucoma (1CE hours)
This course will cover causative factors in congenital and early-onset forms of glaucoma, in order to prevent vision loss and legal blindness later in life in this young population. (COPE# 41928-GL)

Connective Tissue Disorders in Primary Eye Care (1 CE hour)
This course will prepare optometrists to diagnose the ocular and systemic manifestations of the five most common connective tissue disorders including PXE, Ehler-Danlos, Osteogenesis, Marfan and Stickler Syndromes. (COPE# 32959-SD)

FEATURED SPEAKERS
Emily Charlson,
MD, PhD
Dr. Charlson is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in
oculofacial, orbital, and aesthetic plastic surgery. As an elite physician holding both a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in medical science, Dr. Charlson specializes in eyelid reconstruction, cosmetics, and preserving eye health.

Dr. Charlson earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology, graduating summa cum laude from the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, in 2007. Her MD and PhD in Cell & Molecular Biology were with the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She pursued her residency at UC Irvine's Gavin Herbert Eye Institute and completed a competitive fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Orbital Oncology at the Byers Eye Institute at Stanford University.
Outside of medicine, she loves running/swimming/cycling as a triathlete, taking her two Rhodesian Ridgeback puppies to the beach, and volunteering within her local community.

James Kundart,
OD, PhD, FAAO
Dr. Kundart is a Professor of Optometry at Pacific University in Forest Gove, OR.
​Dr. Kundart received his Bachelor of Science in astronomy and astrophysics and Bachelor of Arts in history from the Pennsylvania State University. He
matriculated from Pacific University with his doctorate in optometry, with distinction. His PhD in Vision Science studied the relationship between the ocular structure and image size difference (aniseikonia).
​
Dr. Kundart was in private practice for five years in Easton, Pennsylvania, where he specialized in primary care and low vision for the working poor and special-needs children. Dr. Kundart is a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and an academic fellow in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. He runs the 3D Performance service in Beaverton where he specializes in double vision and aniseikonia from ocular, neurological, and systemic disease, especially the connective tissue disorder Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

Dr. Kundart was named Clinical Faculty of the Year three times and has served as the chair of the board of directors of Amigos Eye Care for ten years. He is the twice former chair of the University Faculty Senate and is an active member of the Vision Performance Institute and Vision Science graduate program on campus.
​
Originally from McAdoo, Pennsylvania, Dr. Kundart and his wife Alicks have a son and share their home with a collection of rescued pets, including a cat with low vision.
